Blonde Redhead are an alternative indie rock band from New York City, formed by Kazu Makino, Maki Takahashi and Italian brothers Simone and Amedeo Pace. They take their name from a song by DNA, a 70's and 80's no wave band from New York.

New Young Pony Club are a five-piece band from London, formed in 2004. They toured on the NME Indie Rave tour with Klaxons. The group's name, according to lead vocalist Tahita Bulmer, derives partially from that of an Irish band, Pony Club, describing New Young Pony Club as "a newer, younger and kinkier Pony Club".

The Pigeon Detectives are a band from Rothwell, near Leeds, who formed in 2002. They have been championed by DJ Steve Lamacq, amongst others, and performed at the Reading and Leeds festivals in 2006, where they were tagged "the band most likely to leap to the main stage in 2007”.

The Mooney Suzuki are a rock and roll band formed in 1996 in New York City. The band's sound can be described as high-energy rock'n'roll, drawing heavily from mod, soul, garage, and British Invasion influences. Their name is taken from the first two singers of 1970s German Krautrock band Can: Malcolm Mooney and Damo Suzuki.

Paolo Nutini is a singer/songwriter from Paisley, Scotland in the Damien Rice mould (although he'll probably not thank me for comparing them). His father is of Italian descent, from Barga, Tuscany and his mother is Glaswegian, although his father's family have been in Scotland for four generations.

The Long Blondes are a 5-piece indie rock band from Sheffield. The band is known not just for their music, but also their "glamorous punk" image. Front-woman Kate Jackson was featured in The Guardian's style section and the NME cool list. They have a number of influences, including 60's pop, Buzzcocks, The Ramones, post-punk and New Wave. Traces of work by another Sheffield band, Pulp can also be seen.

Apartment are a four-piece alternative rock band from London, formed in 2005. They have shared many stages with fellow East Londoners Boy Kill Boy (hailing from Leytonstone), and have a song dedicated to the BKB singer, Chris Peck, called 'My Brother Chris'. The band came together in Bethnal Green, sharing loves of influential acts like Velvet Underground, Jeff Buckley, David Bowie, and The Associates.

Cold War Kids are an indie rock band from Fullerton, California, USA. Band members are Nathan Willett (vocals, piano), Jonnie Russell (guitar), Matt Maust (bass guitar) and Matt Aveiro (drums). Their music is heavily inspired by artists such as Bob Dylan, Velvet Underground and Johnny Segment. They appeared on Soccer AM and were announced as Norwich City FC Fans.

Mumm-ra are an English alternative rock band originating from Bexhill on Sea. They received acclaim and publicity thanks to NME, who many argue they owe much of their success to after being featured in the January 2007 edition of the magazine as one of ten bands who were "guaranteed to soundtrack" 2007. They also received early airplay thanks to Dermot O'Leary and his BBC Radio 2 show.

Peter Bjorn and John are a Swedish indie pop band, formed in Stockholm in 1999. The current members are Peter Morén on vocals, guitar, and harmonica; Björn Yttling on vocals, bass and keyboards; and John Eriksson on drums, percussion, and vocals. The 2006 single "Young Folks" featured Victoria Bergsman of The Concretes.

The View are a four piece indie rock band from Dryburgh, a district in Dundee, Scotland. The band initially based themselves at The Bayview pub (where they took their name) in the Menzieshill area of Dundee, not far from their native Dryburgh.
